'Religious polarization is destroying harmony in country': Latin Archdiocese with Pastoral letter; Day of Fasting and Prayer on March 22

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pastoral Letter of Latin Archdiocese saying that religious polarization is undermining social harmony in the country and endangering democracy. The pastoral letter also points out that fundamental rights and minority rights guaranteed by the constitution are being violated and attacks and threats against Christians and Christian institutions are becoming a regular occurrence.

Thiruvananthapuram Latin Archdiocese will observe National Day of Fasting and Prayer on March 22 for peace and unity of the country. In 2014, 147 incidents of violence against Christians were reported. In 2023, it rose to 687. It is in this context that the 'Day of Fasting and Prayer' is being observed. All parishes should organize an hour of Eucharistic adoration after the Stations of the Cross. The archbishop also called upon the senior believers to give up one meal and fast.
