BENGALURU: The Karnataka Election Commission on Thursday filed a police complaint against Union Minister and BJP candidate from Bengaluru North Shobha Karandlaje. The complaint comes just days after her hateful comments directed at Tamilians and Keralites regarding the Rameshwaram café blast.
The complaint was filed by the DEO on behalf of the Election Commission. The complaint states that a case should be filed under Sections 123 (3A), 125 and 123 (3) of the Representation of the People Act. The Central Election Commission had earlier directed the Karnataka Election Commission to take immediate action against Shobha.
Shobha made the virulent comments while responding to an English media channel. Shobha opined that Tamilians are trained in making bombs and are reaching Bengaluru to carry out attacks. She later made spiteful comments about people from Kerala saying that they come to Bengaluru mostly to throw acid on girls.
Shobha also brought up the topic of the infamous ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ chants inside the state assembly. She blamed the congress government for their lackadaisical approach and also raised the recent incident of a man being beaten by a gang for playing Hanuman Chalisa.
