KOLLAM: Two KSRTC drivers were caught drunk during the inspection conducted by the KSRTC vigilance team at the Pathanapuram transport depot. Meanwhile, 12 drivers who were about to take up duty scooted away learning about the sudden inspection. Due to this, 14 services were suspended in the morning. The issue was later solved after extending services to this area from Kottarakkara depot. On any normal day, these regions have 40 services daily.

The inspection team submitted a report to the Executive Director of Vigilance, demanding strict action against the KSRTC drivers caught and also against the ones who fled the spot fearing the inspection. The KSRTC vigilance team from Pathanamthitta visited the Pathanapuram depot yesterday at around 5:30 am on the instructions of the KSRTC vigilance officer. All employees on duty, including drivers, conductors, mechanical staff and security, were tested using breath analyzers.

A 29 ml alcohol presence was detected in the test conducted on a permanent driver of KSRTC, while a presence of 80 ml was detected from the test taken on an empanelled driver. The two drivers will be suspended from service while the 12 drivers who fled the spot will have to provide an explanation to their officer.
