Double murder accused charged with rape for abusing friend's mother by making her believe it's act of 'Gandharvas'

IDUKKI: The main accused in the Kattappana double murder case, Nitheesh, has been charged with rape by the police for repeatedly abusing his friend's mother. He sexually abused the said woman by making her believe that it is done by Gandharvas (demigods) as part of a puja. The action is based on the woman's complaint that she was sexually assaulted several times after 2016.

The information about the abuse came to light when Nitheesh and Vishnu, the accused in the Kattapana double murder case, were taken into custody and interrogated. Nitheesh confessed to the police that he had raped his friend's mother several times as part of a puja. Also, the police found that they were accused in many theft cases in Kattappana and surrounding areas over the years. Another case was registered against the duo for stealing iron rode and cement from a construction site.

Nitheeh killed the co-accused Vishnu's father Vijayan and his baby born to Vishnu's sister. Nitheesh came to Vijayan's family and used to perform various kinds of tricks and pujas to make them believe about the presence of 'Gandharva' in their house. He used to write letters and put them in different parts of the house to make them believe it is all act of Gandharvas.
