THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man died in Venjaramoodu on Sunday after getting electrocuted from an electric fence that was erected to curb the threat of wild boars. Velumanpadi 'Kunnumpurathu Veetil' Unni (35) is the deceased. The youngster was returning from fishing at 2 am and accidentally rested his hands on the fence, unaware of the electricity passing through it.

Unni was thrown to the ground in the impact of the shock, and it took some time for his friends to find him and then rush to the hospital. Doctors declared him dead while police have initiated an investigation into the case.

Such incidents have happened in Palakkad before. Most of these electric fences erected are done illegally and it is mostly to thwart away the intrusion of wild animals.
