NEW DELHI: Keeping his vow to rule even while in jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal signed the first file on Sunday while in the ED lock-up. This is the first time in the country that a Chief Minister is running his government while in custody.
This is an order regarding water supply in Delhi and a note to Department Minister Atishi. Atishi later displayed the order at a press conference.
She said Kejriwal has “sent instructions to me as the Water Minister – that the water and sewer problems faced by the people of Delhi should be resolved immediately, and adequate water tankers should be arranged in the summer.”
“When I read these instructions I had tears in my eyes. I thought, what is this person made of, who is not thinking about himself in such an adverse situation, but is thinking about the people of Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal does not consider himself just the Chief Minister of Delhiites, he considers every Delhiite as a member of his family,” she said.
Kejriwal will be in custody till 2pm at March 28.
Questioning alongside Kavita
As per reports, Kejriwal was interrogated along with K Kavita, who was arrested earlier in the liquor policy case. Kavita is the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi. ED suspects that Rs 100 crores were transferred to Aam Aadmi leaders with Kavita's knowledge. Kavitha, who was arrested from her residence in Hyderabad on March 15, has been remanded in ED custody by the court till tomorrow.
Opposition show of strength on March 31
As the interrogation of Arvind Kejriwal continues at the ED office, the Aam Aadmi Party and the INDIA bloc are intensifying their protests on the streets. The leaders of 'INDIA' have announced that they will hold a mega rally at Ramlila Maidan on March 31. Aam Aadmi Party leader Gopal Rai said that the rally is to protect national interest and democracy and that Kejriwal's family is placed under house arrest. Meanwhile, BJP also took to the streets yesterday demanding Kejriwal's resignation as Chief Minister and burnt his effigy.
