ALAPPUZHA: The case pertaining to Chief Minister's security officer beating KSU district president AD Thomas and Youth Congress leader Ajay Jewel Kuriakose, who raised slogans against the Chief Minister during his visit during the Navakerala Sadas was handed over to the crime branch.

The case was handed over to the District Crime Branch three months after the incident on the basis of a complaint filed by the victims to the Chief Minister requesting that the case be handed over to a special agency. A team headed by DySP Arun will investigate. On December 15, 2023, Thomas and Ajay Jewel raised slogans at Alappuzha General Hospital Junction as the Chief Minister and ministers passed by a special bus to attend the Navakerala Sadas at Ambalapuzha on 15 December 2023. After the police took both of them into custody and moved them to the roadside, the chief minister's gunman Anil and security officer Sandeep jumped out of the escort vehicle and beat Thomas and Ajay, who were in the police cordon, with their sticks. The video of the beating went viral on social media. The police did not file a case. The leaders then approached the court. First Class Magistrate Seena Begum ordered to file a case. Although a case was filed later, the accused officials sought time to appear before the police. Now the crime branch will issue a notice to them.
