THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the summer intensifying, high temperatures were recorded in various parts of Kerala today. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Ernakulam are likely to receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour in the next three hours.

The IMD had earlier informed that Kollam and Palakkad districts will experience maximum temperatures of 39°C from today till April 7 (2 to 4 degrees above normal). It also warned that the maximum temperature is likely to rise to 38°C in Kozhikode and 36°C in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kasaragod. Due to high temperatures and humid air, hot and humid weather is likely from April 3 to April 7 in these districts, except in the hilly areas.
