KKR thrash DC by 106 runs, marches on to top of table with third consecutive win

VISAKHAPATNAM: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced a remarkable performance in all departments of the game as it thrashed Delhi Capitals in the IPL match held at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. KKR's herculean target of 273 turned out to be too much for the DC as they gave in to the pressure and ended up suffering a 106-run defeat. By winning its third consecutive match, KKR has marched on to the top of the points table with 6 points.

Chasing a massive target of 273, Delhi lost 4 wickets while putting up 33 runs on the board. Later, skipper Rishabh Pant (55 off 25 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (54 off 32 balls) hit fifties to save Delhi from a humiliating defeat. Delhi only managed to score 166 runs before being knocked out in the 18th over. Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy each took three wickets, while Australian star bowler Mitchel Starc claimed two.

It was opener Sunil Narine (85 off 39 balls) who shined with the bat for KKR. His innings included 7 fours and 7 sixes. 18-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who was playing his first IPL match, also scored a quick fifty. He scored 54 runs off 27 balls and smashed 3 sixes and 5 fours. The team managed to score a massive total of 272 runs, thanks to the fireworks by all-rounder Andre Russel (41 off 19 balls) and Rinku Singh (26 off 8 balls) at the back end of the innings.
