All three attended ‘occult convention’ in Arunachal, messages on life after death were from fake mail ID

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A special team led by ACP will investigate the deaths of a Malayali couple and their friend in Arunachal Pradesh. The laptops and phones of the three will be examined in detail.

Naveen Thomas of Kottayam, his wife Devi Madhavan and teacher Arya Nair of Thiruvananthapuram were found dead in a hotel room in Arunachal Pradesh. The police informed that the messages on life after death were received from a fake email ID in the name of Don Bosco.

Police said Naveen's actions were a planned one. All digital evidences were destroyed. He did not provide the documents of the others when booked the room in the hotel. The investigation team will examine how the three got involved in strange beliefs.

Meantime, there are reports that a convention of occult practices was held at Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh. The police suspect that all the three had attended this. The staffs of the hotel said the three had gone out in the first three days of their arrival. It is hinted that they may have gone for the convention. It is concluded that they chose Easter Day for the death deliberately.

All three chose exsanguination (bleeding to death). Naveen slit the wrists of Devi and Arya with their consent and then committed suicide in the same manner. Both Devi and Arya were wearing bangles with black stones at the time of death. An investigation is being conducted on those wearing such bangles.

The bodies of the three were brought home yesterday. The bodies of Devi and Arya were cremated at Shanthikavadam in Thyacaud Thiruvananthapuram. Naveen's funeral will be held at 3 pm today at Saint Thomas Orthodox Church Cemetery at Meenadom in Kottayam.
