LDF councilor arrested for involvement in Rs 47 lakh crypto currency scam

KOZHIKODE: Ahmed Unais, a councilor of Koduvally municipality has been arrested in a Rs 47 lakh crypto currency scam. Unais is a member of the National Secular Conference, which is part of the LDF. The arrest was made by Hyderabad police with the help of Koduvally police.

He is the councilor of 12th Division Kaeettiparambu West Councillor in Koduvally Municipality. The Hyderabad Cyber Police had found that Unais was also involved in a financial fraud. Koduvally police informed that he has been taken to Hyderabad for further investigation.

A five-member Hyderabad police team reached Koduvally around 10 am on Saturday. On the basis of the information received from Muvattupuzha native Firoz, who was arrested a few days ago in connection with online fraud, Unais was also investigated. Koduvally Police said that they have received many complaints regarding online financial fraud. A teacher, who is a native of Pannikkottur lost Rs 22 lakh and an engineer lost Rs 30 lakh in the scam. The police said that an interstate lobby is behind such scams.
