KANNUR: KK Shailaja, LDF candidate from Vadakara has reacted to the recent visit of CPM leaders to the house of the deceased in the Panoor bomb blast case. She emphasized that the political background of those involved in the blast should not be a focal point. Shailaja clarified that people should be viewed solely as criminals once they engage in criminal activities.
'There are instances of young people straying from well-to-do families. However, the families of those involved in the blasts have already disowned them. The party has not authorized anyone to visit the family of the deceased. UDF is exploiting this situation because they have no other issues to raise against me,' stated KK Shailaja.
A photograph of Shailaja standing with a person connected to the Panoor blast case has been released, with the opposition intending to use it as ammunition.
CPM Panoor area committee member Sudhir Kumar and Poyilur LC member A Ashokan also visited the family. This visit occurred before the body was brought home yesterday. The decision to visit came after leaders, including state secretary MV Govindan, stated that Sherin and the injured Vineesh had previously assaulted CPM workers, leading to their rejection by the party. The release of video footage has sparked controversy, leading the CPM to launch an investigation into the leaked footage. It is speculated that local factionalism within the party is behind the release of the footage.
Koothuparamba MLA and RJD leader KP Mohanan also attended the funeral. Mohanan clarified that he visited Sherin's house as an MLA and since Sherin's house is near his own, he is acquainted with many of Sherin's relatives.
