Cheating case against producer of 'Vellam' movie

ALAPPUZHA: The police have registered a cheating case against the producer of Jayasurya-starrer movie 'Vellam'. Kozhikode native KV Muralidas was booked by the Nedumudi police on the complaint of Australian Malayali and Kuttanad native Shibu John.

In his complaint, Shibu John alleged that Muralidas gave him substandard tiles after convincing him that he had a tile manufacturing company. Shibu John had advertised in Australia for the sale of tiles manufactured by Muralidas in the country. The complainant also handed over A$43,130 to Murali for sending the tiles to Australia.

However, the tiles sent to Australia by Muralidas were of low standard. Hence, the sale did not take place. The complainant then spent 3,63,106 Australian Dollars to send the tiles back to Kerala. Although the tiles were re-sent after rectifying the defects, the goods got lost due to the negligence of the accused. In his complaint, Shibu John alleged that he incurred a total loss of 1,008,406 Australian dollars.
