Israeli airstrike kills three children and two grandchildren of Hamas chief

CAIRO: Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh's three sons and two grandsons were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. This was informed by Haniyeh's family. His three sons-Hazem, Amir and Mohammad were killed after the car they were travelling in was bombed in Gaza’s Al-Shati camp. Two of his grandchildren were also killed in the attack and a third was injured and has been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.

Haniyeh told media that our demands are clear and specific and we will not make concessions on them. The enemy will be delusional if it thinks that targeting my sons, at the climax of the negotiations and before the movement sends its response, will push Hamas to change its stand.

Haniyeh was appointed as the chief of Hamas in 2017. Haniyeh later moved to Doha, the capital of Qatar, avoiding the travel restrictions imposed by Israel in Gaza. Haniyeh’s eldest son confirmed on social media that his siblings were killed in the attack in Gaza. "Thanks God who honoured us by the martyrdom of my brothers Hasem, Amir, Mohammad and their children," he wrote on Facebook.

The slain Amir Haniyeh was a squad commander in the Hamas military wing, while Hasem and Mohammad were low ranking activists. Al-Aqsa TV reported that the Israeli drone was targeting them who were traveling with their siblings and family members in the vehicle.
