Monthly payment controversy; ED notice to CMRL MD, directed to appear on Monday

ed

KOCHI: Enforcement Directorate has issued a notice to the CMRL MD, Sasidharan Karta, regarding the monthly payment case. In the notice, CMRL has requested the MD to appear at the ED office on Monday. However, when the officials from the finance department were instructed to appear with the documents, no one was present, and the representatives did not specify the reason for their absence. Consequently, the company has sent a notice to the MD.

In the monthly payment case, the ED is investigating financial transactions between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter, Veena Vijayan's company, Exalogic and CMRL. Allegations suggest that Exalogic was paid for services that were not provided.

The Serious Fraud Investigation Office is also looking into information uncovered during the Income Tax Department's investigation into the monthly payment case. Taking money for services not rendered is alleged to be a form of corruption. After recording statements from CMRL officials, the ED has proceeded to interrogate the Chief Minister's daughter, Veena Vijayan.
