Three children swept away by strong currents; two die

SREEKRISHNAPURAM: Two girls drowned to death after being swept away by the strong currents of the Karimpuzha River while they were taking a bath. The deceased have been identified as Rizwana (19), the daughter of Cherpulassery Kuttikkode native Musthafa and Dima Mebba (20), daughter of Karakurissi native Abubakar. Another boy named Badusha, who was them, is undergoing treatment at the hospital. His condition is said to be critical.

The incident took place yesterday near the Cherupuzha Bridge in Kootilakkadavu. It was the locals and trauma care volunteers who brought the children to the shore after they found that the children were drowning in the river. Although the three were immediately rushed to the private hospital in Vattambalam, Rizwana and Dima died afterwards. The accident took place when they entered the river to take a bath.
