THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Human Rights Commission has ordered an inquiry into the strange death of a woman, who felt unconscious after being administered an injection from Neyyattinkara taluk hospital.

Krishnapriya (28) of Sarath Bhavan, Neyyattinkara Machel, died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. She was on ventilator support. Acting Chairperson and Judicial Member of the Commission K Baijunath ordered the Thiruvananthapuram District Medical Officer to investigate the matter and submit a report within 15 days. The action was taken on a complaint filed by the woman's husband S Sarath alleging medical negligence.

Krishnapriya was shifted to Neyyattinkara General Hospital from Thycaud Hospital on July 15th, after taking a suggestion from a doctor at Thycaud. In the complaint, it is mentioned that the drip and injection administered to Krishnapriya during her husband’s absence resulted in her health deteriorating.

In the complaint, it is also mentioned that Krishnapriya had to experience a similar health scare previously when she took an injection of allergy from Malayinkeezhu Hospital. Relatives allege that the doctors cared not to take an allergy test before allowing such injection to the patient.
