KOCHI: The family of the youth, who died after the rope tied for the safety of Prime Minister Narendra Modi got entangled around his neck, levelled serious allegation against the police. The family alleged that motorist Manoj Unni died due to the negligence of the police. The youth’s sister Chippy alleged that the rope was tied in such a way that the passengers could not see it.
Chippy said the police did not stand in the middle of the rope tied on the road to prevent vehicles from passing. The police stood on the sides of the road. There was not enough light on the road. The statement of the police that her brother was drunk is wrong. Chippy said the doctors said that there was no presence of alcohol in his blood. The woman responded that whatever needs to be done for the safety of the ministers can be done, but the safety of the people should also be considered. Normal precautions should be taken when a rope is tied across the road. However, it is also alleged that there were no arrangements like barricades at the area of the spot.
The accident happened last night at 10 pm. The police have clarified that Manoj Unni did not have a license and an investigation conducted said that he was drunk. The police said Manoj Unni went home when his mother called him while he was consuming liquor with his friends.
