Delhi liquor case; Kejriwal's petition to be heard on 29, notice to ED

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea in the money laundering case related to liquor corruption to the 29th of this month. A two-judge bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta heard the petition.

On Kejriwal's petition, the court issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate, seeking clarification on the matters raised in the petition. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for Kejriwal. Singhvi requested that the plea be heard this Friday, but the court refused.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 around 9 pm. The arrest was made after two hours of questioning. ED team arrived at Kejriwal's house with a warrant after the Delhi High Court rejected the plea to stay the arrest in the liquor case.

On April 9, the Delhi High Court rejected Kejriwal's petition against the arrest, stating that the petition was to check whether the arrest was illegal and not for the grant of bail. He then approached the Supreme Court on April 10. Currently, Kejriwal is in Tihar Jail. The 14-day judicial custody will end on Monday.
