Heavy rain in Oman; Malayali dies after being swept away by flood waters

ADOOR: A Malayali died after being swept away by flood waters following heavy rain in Sanaiya, Bidiyah, Oman. The deceased is Kadampanad native Sunil Kumar (54). Sunil Kumar has been running a workshop in Oman for the last 15 years.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon. The buildings in the place where Sunil Kumar lived were flooded due to heavy rains. In the meantime, a nearby wall collapsed and a person fell under it. Sunil Kumar was swept away by the flood waters while trying to rescue this person. On Sunday morning, Sunil had contacted his daughter over the phone. The accident happened after this. Sunil Kumar is survived by his wife Divya and daughter: Swathi Sunil.

Meanwhile, heavy rain is continuing in Oman. Two more people died in heavy rains. The bodies were found by Civil Defense and Ambulance officials from North Sharqiyah Governorate. With this, the death toll has risen to 14. The death toll is likely to rise.
