28-year-old Alappuzha native killed in Oman rains

MUSCAT: An Alappuzha native was killed in the terrifying deluge and waterlogging that struck Oman in recent days. Abdul Wahid (28) from Tharathottahil house in Alappuzha Arookutty Naduvath Nagar, died after getting caught in a flash flood.

Abdul Wahid was tragically caught in a flash flood that lashed at a place called Wadi, which is 60 km away from Ibra in Sharqiyah North Governorate. The mortal remains are now kept in Ibra Hospital.

Wahid was travelling towards to Mabela in a private toy company’s van when the tragedy happened. Wahid was accompanied by the van driver, an Oman native. They were planning to drop off the toy packages at Mabela when the disaster arrived. The Omani driver sustained head and spinal injuries and is now undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

The National Multi-Hazard in Oman has predicted that the rain will continue in the coming days with the same ferocity. Schools in severely waterlogged areas have been temporarily suspended.
