Bride refuses to marry after groom turns up drunk at church

PATHANAMTHITTA: A youth who came drunk and created a ruckus at his own wedding was taken into custody by the police in his wedding attire. The incident happened at Thadiyoor in Kozhencherry, Pathanamthitta. The marriage was called off as the bride refused to marry him.

The groom who reached the church yard for the wedding function was found struggling to get out of the car. It turned worse once he got out of the car. He even spoke badly to the priest who came to officiate the marriage. With this, the bride's family changed their minds.

Even when the police reached the spot after knowing about the incident, the groom was creating problems. With this, the police registered a case against him on the charge of causing trouble after getting drunk. The medical examination also said that he was drunk.

The youth working abroad, reached the state for his marriage. Some of his relatives said that he was seen drinking since morning. Finally, the groom’s party decided to pay Rs 6 lakh to the bride’s family.

There have been news of marriages calling off due to various reasons. One such incident happened recently in Hyderabad. The marriage was called off as the bride's family failed to serve mutton dish for the engagement. The engagement of a woman from Nizamabad and a youth from Jagtial was in November. The function was held at the bride's house.

The bride's family prepared a feast of meat dishes for the invited guests and the groom's relatives for the betrothal. However, the groom's family created problems for not serving mutton dishes. The issue turned worse when the bride's family said mutton dishes were not prepared. The police then reached the spot.

The police tried to resolve the issue, but the groom's family alleged that the bride’s family insulted them. The groom's family said mutton dishes were not included despite their request. The groom's family then canceled the marriage.
