msc-

KOZHIKODE: 'We are safe, there is nothing wrong here. Mother, don't be sad...I will come home soon after being released...' Shyamnath called from the MSC Aries ship hijacked by Iran to the phone at his home in Velliparamba, Kozhikode on Monday night. The call came to the phone of his mother Shyamala, who had been worried for three days without knowing any information about her son. "Everyone is safe. Food is being provided. No one is harmed." Shyamnath was allowed to speak to his father and wife as well during the ten-minute-long conversation.

Israel seized the ship containing four Malayalis including TP Shyamnath on the afternoon of the 13th in the background of the Iran-Israel conflict. Shyamnath had called on 13th the morning and said that he would come home on the 16th after Vishu. Things changed in the afternoon. The ship came under the control of Iran and there has been no information since then. Shyamnath's brother Shankar said that he is in constant touch with the Mediterranean shipping company where Shyamnath works and with the authorities in Kerala and the Centre. 31-year-old Shyamnath is the second engineer on the ship and has been doing this job for ten years.

PV Dhanesh from Kattikkulam, Wayanad, Sumesh son of Sivaraman from Keralassery Vadasseri, Palakkad and Ann Tessa Joseph from Thrissur are the other Malayalis on board.
