THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the spotlight on the cyber abuse hurled at the LDF candidate in Vadakara K K Shailaja, both Congress and LDF engaged in a bitter tussle, taking the election campaign in a different direction. Social leaders and women's liberation activists also came up in support of K K Shailaja. Popular names such as K. Ajitha, and C.S. Chandrika also came out criticizing the attack. They feared the plight of young girls and women in Kerala if such senior leaders were easily targeted by vile social media attacks.

Meanwhile, UDF leaders KK Rema and Uma Thomas questioned CM Pinarayi Vijayan for standing as a mute spectator albiet receiving a complaint almost 20 days back.

Following this allegation, the police arrested a Muslim League worker on Wednesday for creating a defamatory video. CPM State Secretary MV Govindan alleged that the UDF candidate in Vadakara, Shafi Parambil, and the Congress leadership aided such workers. Govindan said the congress leaders piled all the blame on league workers so as to keep a righteous image during the elections.
