Thiruvananthapuram Airport making huge strides; here are the figures for the last year

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has achieved a record feat by recording a huge leap in the number of flight services and passengers. The airport achieved the record feat in the financial year 2023- 2024 by putting the figures from the previous financial years far behind.

According to the authorities, 44 lakh passengers travelled through Thiruvananthapuram airport during 2023-2024. The number of passengers who travelled through the airport during 2022-23 was 3.46 million. Among these, 2.42 million of the passengers were domestic passengers. 1.98 million were international travellers. Most of the international passengers travelled to Sharjah. Regarding domestic passengers, more people travelled to Bengaluru via the Thiruvananthapuram airport.

Additionally, the number of flight services that arrived and departed from Thiruvananthapuram increased significantly in the previous year. In 2023–24, 29,778 aircraft movements were recorded, according to airport officials. The prior year's figure was 24,213. A 23 per cent increase was recorded in air traffic movement.

The Adani Group is moving on with the implementation of significant development projects in Thiruvananthapuram, which includes building a new terminal. The authorities are developing the new project keeping in mind that the number of passengers and the number of services will increase in the future.
