KOCHI: Premakumari, the mother of Malayali woman Nimisha Priya who is remaining in jail in Yemen after being awarded a death sentence, will go to Yemen to see her daughter. Premakumari is heading to Yemen after she got permission from the Delhi High Court to travel to Yemen.
Samuel Jerome, a member of Save Nimisha Priya International Action Council and a businessman from Yemen, will also accompany Premakumari. They will be travelling to Yemen from Kochi via Mumbai on Saturday. After landing at Aden International Airport in Yemen, they will head to Sana'a by land. The plan is to go to Sana'a prison on Sunday or Monday and meet Nimisha Priya. Premakumari is also likely to meet and hold talks with the family of the slain Yemeni citizen Abdo Mahdi regarding the blood money.
At present, India does not have diplomatic relations with the government of Yemen. The Save Nimisha Priya Action Council is making the arrangements for the talks in Yemen. Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs had clarified that the Indian government could not help Premakumari in going to Yemen.
