'Jesna was not pregnant, haven't received blood stained clothes'; CBI tells court

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CBI on Friday came with an explanation for Jesna’s father’s statement about handing over blood-stained clothes to the crime branch. CBI Inspector Nipul Shankar informed the Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate Court about the Kerala police not receiving blood-stained clothes and confirmed that Jesna was not pregnant. The court itself summoned the CBI officer for an explanation.

Jesna’s father, James, alleged that the CBI did not take the statements of the officers who initially investigated the case. CBI on the other hand, stubbornly dismissed this statement. The case has been transferred to the 23rd of April.

Jesna, a second-year B. Com student at Kanjirappally SD College, went missing on March 22, 2018. It is clear that Jesna took an auto-rickshaw from her house in Kollamula to the nearest junction and travelled by bus to Mundakayam. A shop's CCTV caught a blurry picture of Jesna walking through Mundakayam Junction.

Jesna’s brother and KSU leader approached the High Court demanding a CBI investigation, at a time when the police and the crime branch were efficiently progressing with the case, interrogating many people and examining unidentified bodies.

The CBI, which took over the case as per the direction of the court, couldn’t crack the mystery behind Jesna’s disappearance. According to her father James, Jesna is not alive. However, the police, crime branch and CBI have not recorded such information in the investigation reports.

James is content with the CBI investigation but opened up about the agency's failure to reach some crucial points which he believes could have solved the case.
