'I want my son'; father of brutally beaten seven-year-old boy in court; stepfather and mother arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The father has come forward demanding the seven-year-old boy after the incident of the brutal beating of the boy by his stepfather came to light. The father came to the police station requesting the child who is presently under the care of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare and filed a petition in the family court. The police arrested the mother, Anjana, today. Anu, a native of Padassery, who brutally beat the child was arrested earlier.

A few days ago, a video of the boy revealing that he was brutally beaten by his stepfather came out. The boy says that Anu made him eat green chillies, hung him to a fan and beat him. In the video, the child says that his mother did not try to stop the stepfather who was beating him and Anu was harassed for laughing and writing notes late. The child went to his relative's house two days ago because Anjana was sick. More information came out when the relatives, who were suspicious after seeing the marks on the child's body, questioned the child.

A case has been registered against Anu and Anjana on charges of attempt to murder and causing injury with a deadly weapon. Anjana, who was left by her first husband, had been living with her relative Anu for the past one year. Anjana testified that she had seen Anu beating the child but did not try to stop him because she was afraid that she would also be beaten.
