Wild bison triggers panic in populated area in Pirappancode; tranquilised and captured

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A wild bison, that ventured into a populated area in Pirappancode in Thiruvananthapuram, was tranquilised and captured by the Forest Department officials. Locals first spotted the wild bison in a rubber plantation adjacent to the MC road near Pirappancode Junction on Thursday morning. Following this, they immediately informed the Forest Department and the police.

The officials reached the spot and fired a tranquillizer dart at the wild bison. The bison, which ran amok after getting shot, collapsed near the Thennoor Devi Temple in Pirappancode. The tranquillizer dart was fired only once. Forest officials said that the bison would be released into the forest.

"The wild bison will be subjected to a medical examination to ensure that it does not have any health issues. After that, it will be released in the forest," the forest officials said.

On Wednesday, a wild bison was spotted near Technocity in Pallippuram. The bison was spotted near a ground in the Technocity region yesterday morning. Following this, the locals captured the video of the wild bison and forwarded it to the panchayat authorities and the police. Later, the forest officials reached the spot and searched the area in an attempt to locate the wild bison. After searching for several hours, the officials came to the conclusion that the bison had returned to the forest close to Technocity.
