THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Social Justice Department's geriatric survey will commence soon in the state. Information of citizens over 60 will be published on the website.
There's a debate on which department should conduct the face-to-face survey of the elderly.
The survey will contain over 40 questions aimed at understanding the socio-economic and health status of the elderly. Questions will include inquiries about living arrangements, need for assistance, experiences of harassment and reliance on family or government support.
The information of those aged over 60 will be updated on the site every six months or annually, with local bodies overseeing this task. Upon receiving the death certificate, the details of deceased people will be removed from the site.
The website will also provide information on caregivers for inpatients and government services and schemes available to senior citizens, along with the relevant departments to contact for assistance.
