Youngster dies after falling into well while fleeing police in Kottayam

KOTTAYAM: In a tragic incident, a youngster who ran away after seeing police, fell into a well and died. The incident took place in Athirampuzha in Kottayam on Monday morning. Akash Surendran, a native of Nalpathimala is the deceased. Akash was consuming alcohol with his friends when the police patrol came their way. In a rush to escape, Akash scuttled away but shockingly fell into a well.

Akash and his friends were drinking in a deserted backyard near the MG University Men's Hostel. At 1 am on Monday, their booze party was interrupted by torch lights which they soon recognized to be from police officials. In fear, all scattered away. Surprisingly, the police didn’t go behind the youngsters and left the place soon.

However, Akash while feeling police accidently fell into a well. Some of the friends saw Akash's tragedy and wasted no time to inform the fire force. However, Akash died even before the fire force could reach the spot.
