KOCHI: The police filed a chargesheet in the court in the Kalamasery blast case that rocked the state. Dominic Martin of Thammanam Chilavannoor Velikkakath is the lone accused in the case. The chargesheet was filed in the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court. Sections including UAPA and Explosive Ordnance Prohibition Act have been slapped.

There was an explosion at the Zamra International Convention Centre in Kalamassery on October 29 at 9.30 am. Eight people including three members of a family attending the Jehovah's Witnesses convention, had died. 52 people were injured. The accused confessed that he committed the crime for spreading false ideas and for rejecting his directions.

Dominic Martin, who left the place after the explosion, claimed responsibility for the attack through a Facebook video. He later surrendered before the Kodakara police. Although they investigated whether there was any external motivation, the police came to the conclusion that only he was involved in the crime.

Three people first died in the blast. Five people who were treated in the ICU with severe burns later succumbed to their injuries. More than 2,000 people were in the hall when the explosion took place. It was found that Martin had made preparations for the explosion two months before. The police have received the report of State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) report on the blasts.
