THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 54th Kerala state film awards were announced on Friday with ‘Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life’ sweeping most of the crucial awards including best actor and best director. Prithviraj Sukumaran won the award for the best actor while veteran actress Urvashi(Ullozhuku)shared the best actress award with Beena R Chandran(Thadavu).
Aadujeevitham star K.R. Gokul also received a Special Jury Mention for his mesmeric performance while Sunil KS bagged the best cinematographer award for the same film. Director Blessy won the award for the best script adaptation while nothing surprising happened as Ranjith Ambady won the best make-up man award for the same film.
Fazil Razzaq was chosen as the best debut director for the film 'Tadav'. Mathews Pulikal won the award for Background Music (Kathal) and Justin Varghese won Best Music Director (Film: Chaver).
Joju George's movie 'Iratta' was chosen as the best second film while Mammootty’s ‘Kathal the Core’ bagged the award for the best film. ‘Iratta’ movie director Rohit MG also bagged the award for the best script writer. 'Premalu' fame Sangeeth Prathap was selected as the best editor for his work in the movie ‘Little Miss Rawther’.
Sudhi Kozhikode received a special jury mention for his work in the ‘Kaathal’ movie while the jury also praised ‘Gaganachari’ movie. National Film Award-winning Hindi director Sudhir Mishra is the chairman of the award selection jury. Director Priyanandanan and director-cinematographer Alagappan were the chairmen of the two sub-committees of the preliminary judging committee.
