NEW DELHI: All-round performance from Delhi Capitals (DC) players guided them to victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) by four runs in the 40th match of this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.
Score: Delhi Capitals 224-4 (20), Gujarat Titans 220-8 (20)
Chasing a mammoth total of 225 runs, Gujarat Titans lost skipper Shubman Gill (6 off 5 balls) in the second over. Sai Sudarshan (65 off 39) and Wriddhiman Saha (39 off 25) brought the Titans back into the game as they stitched an 82-run partnership for the second wicket. However, other batters such as Azmatullah Omarzai (1 off 2), Shahrukh Khan (8 off 5) and Rahul Tewatia (4 off 5) failed to make an impact with the bat.
Although David Miller (55 off 23) and Rashid Khan (21* off 11) fought hard, the Titans fell four runs short of the target. Rasikh Salam took three wickets and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets for Delhi Capitals.
Batting first, Delhi Capitals put up a huge score, thanks to some fabulous batting by skipper Rishabh Pant (88* off 43) and Axar Patel (66 off 43). Tristan Stubbs also scored a quickfire 26 off just 7 balls.
Meanwhile, Mohit Sharma of Gujarat Titans recorded the worst bowling figure in the history of the IPL as he conceded 73 runs in his four overs. He was hammered for 31 runs in the 20th over.
