Alappuzha man hacks wife to death in front of children, kills self

ALAPPUZHA: In a gruesome crime, a man hacked his wife to death in front of his children and then committed suicide. The incident took place at Venmani Poonthala in Alappuzha at 6:30 am on Thursday. Deepthi (50) of Shrithu Nilayam in Venmani was brutally hacked to death while Shaji (62) her husband, later hanged himself.

On Friday morning, both of them engaged in a bitter verbal feud and Deepti headed on to the kitchen in rage. However, Shaji followed her and hacked her neck with a machete. When the locals reached the place after hearing the scream, Shaji had already hanged from a fan. The whole brutal incident unfurled in front of the children. The couple have two children aged five and six.
