KOCHI: Actor Sreenivasan has responded to the question about Suresh Gopi, the NDA candidate in Thrissur. Speaking to the media after casting his vote, he also said that he does not have faith in democracy.
"I personally like Suresh Gopi very much. Although I'm not much fond of his political party, I like him," Sreenivasan said.
Sreenivasan also responded to the question of the journalists whether this election would be the popular verdict against the Pinarayi government or the central government.
"This will be a popular verdict against ourselves. Whoever wins in this election, they will be against us. I am basically against democracy. In a democracy, there are several loopholes for all thieves to escape. That's why I'm not interested in it," he said.
"It is said that the first model of democracy developed in Greece. As per democracy, it is the people who vote and choose their rulers. Socrates, who is wiser than us, had asked whether the voters have the ability to choose the most capable people. If Socrates were alive today, he would have hunted down the inventors of democracy, trampled them to death, and then committed suicide by drinking cheap poison. In our country, consuming expensive poison is a luxury. It is better to die by drinking cheap poison," Sreenivasan added.
