Elderly man killed in road accident while travelling to polling booth

MALAPPURAM: In a tragic incident, an elderly man was killed in a road accident while he was on his way to the polling booth to vote. The deceased has been identified as Cherumangalam native Saiduhaji (70). The accident took place at around 9.30 am while Saiduhaji was on his way to the polling booth in BEM LP School.

A truck hit Saiduhaji's scooter from behind while it was trying to make room for an ambulance. Saiduhaji then fell on the road and was run over by the truck. Despite being taken to a nearby private hospital and thereafter to Kottakkal Hospital, his life could not be saved.

The body will be handed over to the relatives after conducting a post-mortem at the Tirurangadi Taluk Hospital. Saiduhaji is survived by his wife Rasiya, children Babumon, Arshad, Shefineeth, Abdul Gafoor, Haseena and Shereena.
