KOZHIKODE: The samples of 7 persons, who were on the contact list of the 14-year-old boy who died of Nipah in Malappuram, have tested negative. While 6 of them are under observation in Manjeri Medical College, one person is under observation in Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. There are 330 persons on the contact list of the 14-year-old boy. Among them, 101 are in the high-risk category. 68 people are health workers.
Health Minister Veena George said that prevention activities including door-to-door surveys have been intensified in the region. Plus One allotment will take place tomorrow in Pandikkad and Anakkayam panchayats, following social distancing guidelines.
Meanwhile, the Centre has decided a send a special team to strengthen the operations to prevent the spread of the Nipah virus in the state. A central team comprising members from the Union Health Ministry's 'One Health Mission' has been deployed in this regard.
