Youth commits suicide on Facebook live over family issues

CHERUTHONI: A youth committed suicide while live-casting on Facebook. The dead is Vishnu (35), son of Rajan of Idukki Aalinchuvadu. He died Sunday morning.

Police said family issues led him to take the extreme step. He had been estranged from his wife for quite some time. He came on Facebook live tying a knot with his lungi in the fan. He hanged himself after confessing that what his wife said was right and what he said was wrong.

Since Vishnu had attempted suicide many times, no one took it seriously firstly. Finally seeing live the noose around his neck, his friends came and broke opened the door and entered the house. He had died by then. He was staying alone in the house.

The RTO had earlier suspended his license for riding the bike without a helmet, on Facebook Live. He had worked as temporary security guard at Hillview Park in Idukki.

Idukki police had taken further action. The body is kept in the mortuary of Idukki Medical College Hospital. The body will be cremated today after post mortem.
