KOLKATA: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in a comfortable win on Monday. Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 153 runs with the loss of nine wickets. In response, Kolkata lost only 3 wickets in 16.3 overs and reached the target easily (157/3). Opener Phil Salt (68 off 33 balls) who smashed a half-century was the backbone of Kolkata's chase.
Salt and Narine (15) put on a partnership of 79 runs off 37 balls for the opening wicket. Captain Shreyas Iyer (33 not out) and Venkatesh Iyer (26 not out) made timely contributions to drag KKR to victory. Akshar Patel took 2 wickets for Delhi.
A team with many big hitters, Delhi was left in shock by the precision bowling attack from KKR. Varun Chakravarti took three vital wickets for KKR. At one stage, Delhi faced a batting scare and would have been happy to cross 100 runs. However, it was the resolute batting from Captain Rishabh Pant (27) that helped the team surpass the 150-run mark.
