Carnatic music maestro Mangad K Natesan passes away in Thrissur

THRISSUR: Revered Carnatic musician Mangad K Natesan passed away on Friday. He was 90. Mangad breathed his last in a private hospital in Thrissur. He was rushed to hospital on Thursday evening after experiencing breathing difficulties. He died while on treatment.

Natesan is a native of Mangad, Kollam. The veteran musician was detached from his profession during his sunset years due to age-related ailments. The final rites including cremation will be held at Shanthi Ghat in Paramekkavu. Natesan started his career in music by enrolling in the Swathirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram. Here, Natesan was tutored by the likes of legends including Semmangudi Radhakrishna Srinivasa Iyer.

Natesan later settled in Thrissur after landing a job at Akashvani. The legend of Carnatic music has also performed in the national level events conducted by Akashvani.
