THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: No action will be taken against Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Geromic George for summoning the doctor, who was on OP duty at the General Hospital, to his residence to treat his toenail infection. The doctor was called home when he was examining patients in the busy surgery OP. The government's assessment is that the doctor and the service organization made the incident controversial. The chief secretary has sought a report on it from the principal secretary of the health department.

The rush at the OP can be postponed when compared to the official rush of the collector. The government reviewed that there is no lapse from the side of the collector over the incident. The IAS Association is of the stand that the doctor and its organization created the treatment under service rules, a controversy. The association pointed that under All India Service Rules 3 (1), 8 (1) and 8 (2), all India civil service members and their family can be treated at their residences. The IAS association held the doctor culpable for publicizing the patient's treatment. The collector informed the chief secretary about it.

It is also assessed that taking action against Geromic George, who has won the award for the best collector in the state, in the treatment controversy will bring disrespect to the government. Election code of conduct also exists. The principal secretary of the health department will soon submit a report on the matter.

The fight between the IAS Association and the CPI's service organization is intensifying in the treatment controversy.
