Heavy rains to lash Kerala in next hours; orange alert in two districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the scorching heat almost getting sidelined, IMD has predicted the impending arrival of heavy rains in the state. An orange alert has been issued in Idukki and Pathanamthitta in the wake of heavy downpours. A yellow alert has also been declared in eight districts.

The authorities have asked to practice caution in the wake of rain. A yellow alert has been issued in eight districts namely Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad. No warnings have been issued in Kannur and Kasaragod districts so far.

Yellow alert:

May 15th - Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Kollam districts.

May 16th- Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.

May 17th- Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Wayanad districts.
