Two seriously injured after autorickshaw carrying food for funeral ceremony meets with accident in Kottayam

KOTTAYAM: Two people were seriously injured after a car collided with an auto-rickshaw in Illikkal Kottayam on Tuesday. An auto coming from Cherthala with food for the final rites ceremony was involved in the accident The accident took place around 10:30 this morning on the Kottayam Kumarakom road near Illikkal.

Autodriver Joy (62), a native of Mararikulam and Amabalapuzha native Maniyan (73), a passenger in the auto, suffered serious injuries in the accident. Thiruvarppu native Babu, who was driving the car was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital after he complained of chest pain.

Meanwhile, in Thiruvalla-MC road, two vehicles collided while trying to divert away from a pigeon that was walking across the road. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon near Kuttur Govt. Higher Secondary School. A Benz car driven by Rafiq, a native of Kasaragod, who was on his way to Thiruvananthapuram, saw the pigeon and suddenly applied brake. Another vehicle carting fish from Kottayam to Nagercoil, trailing the Benz car, collided following the sudden brake.

The Benz car which saved the pigeon now needs Rs two lakh for repair works.
