Clash erupts as couple did not give way for bike; Three injured in Anchal

ANCHAL: Last Sunday, around 1 pm at Thumbikunnu in Anchal Edamulakkal, a couple and a bystander were brutally beaten in an altercation over yielding space to a passing bike.

Ashik Hussain and his wife, residents of Anchal and Ani, a resident of Panachavila were the victims of the assault.

Ashik had brought water in a pickup van to a construction site in Thumbikunnu. Shanawas and Riayas, locals of Thumbikunnu confronted them while unloading water claiming there was insufficient space for the bike to pass. They proceeded to assault Ashik and his wife with a piece of wood. Eyewitnesses noted that the were drunk and also attacked Ashik's wife.

Ani intervened upon witnessing the altercation, only to be attacked by the aggressors once more. Ani had arrived at the construction site with food. The injured parties are currently receiving medical treatment at a private hospital.

Following the dissemination of a viral video depicting the incident on social media, the Anchal police initiated an investigation into the actions of both groups. Shanawas is implicated in a separate case involving the death of his wife.
