Will get huge majority in 32 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, says DMK; NDA candidates expected to win in four constituencies

dmk-

CHENNAI: DMK is confident of winning 39 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. DMK's internal survey says that it will get a huge majority in 32 seats. It will win seven seats with a narrow majority, but victory in one seat is not guaranteed. However, the party has not officially released the report.

The data of the survey conducted from the booth level in 39 seats of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has come out. DMK workers conducted the survey on April 19.

Four of the constituencies where the NDA candidates are expected to win have been judged to be strongly contested. They are Coimbatore contested by BJP state president K Annamalai, Vice President Nainar Nagendran's Tirunelveli, Ramanathapuram where former chief minister O Panneerselvam contested as an independent backed by NDA and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam president TTV Dhinakaran's Theni.

The other constituencies are Tiruchirappalli, where MDMK leader Vaiko's son Durai Vaiko contested, Kallakurichi where R Kumaraguru was the Anna DMK candidate, and Pollachi, where both the Anna DMK and the BJP are expecting to win.

Loss at Dharmapuri?

Dharmapuri is the constituency where DMK thinks it may not win. Soumya, wife of PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, is the NDA candidate here.

It is suspected that in Dharmapuri, where more polling was held in the state, there has been polarization on a communal basis and this will favour the NDA. Dharmapuri is a prominent constituency for the Vanniyar community. According to the pre-election report, DMK is facing strong opposition in Namakkal, Tirupur, Pollachi, Erode, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Karur, Vellore, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Theni and Ramanathapuram constituencies.

DMK front had won 39 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections held when the DMK was in the opposition.
