Man held for brutally injuring wife with hammer after summoning her to forests

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After summoning his wife to the forests, he injured both her knees with a hammer and then hacked her seriously. The brutal incident happened near Palode in Thiruvananthapuram. Girija Shiny of Mylamoodu, who is seriously injured is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Her husband, Soji, a native of Palode Pacha, has been taken into custody.

The couple had been estranged for a year and a half. Soji called Girija after promising to resolve issues. She came believing this. He then told her that he wants to talk more and took her inside the forest. He then assaulted her brutally and then damaged both her knees with the hammer he was hiding. He then hacked her seriously with a sharp machete he had in his hand. He then fled after leaving her in the forest.


People who came to collect things in the forest heard her screams and informed the police. The police took Girija to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital with injuries on her legs and head. The accused was arrested in an investigation conducted by the Pangode police. He is being interrogated.


It is not clear what led him to commit the brutal attack. The police said only after the interrogation, a clarity will be obtained on it. The police have started further investigation into the incident.
