Migrant worker goes missing in Manimalayar

MALLAPPALLY: A migrant worker who attempted to swam across a river to meet his contractor went missing in Manimalayar. The said person, Naresh (25), a native of Bihar, a worker in a private construction company in Kallupara, was swept away by the river at Komalam Pier near Komalam Bridge in Puramattam at around 3.30 pm on Monday.

A bridge here was damaged in the last flood and subsequents construction works is going on. Three persons swam across the river to avoid going around to go to the other side. The other two with Naresh only realized he was missing after reaching the other side as they could not find him. After being informed by them, a search was conducted under the leadership of the fire force but Naresh could not be found. After the rains, the water level in the river has risen and the flow is strong.
