Water Authority MD Bhandari Swagat shares heartening Whatsapp message before going on leave

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Water Authority MD Bhandari Swagat Ranveer Chand has gone on leave. She has also forwarded a letter to the government requesting that she be removed from the position. With her family settled in Kanpur, the 2010 IAS cadre has asked for deputation in the same place. If denied, Bhandari plans to continue on leave. She took charge as the MD of the Water Authority in 2023.

After assuming office, Bhandari invited the wrath of unions from both parties after she doubled the number of meters for daily reading. When the unions complained that this would cause excessive workload, Bhandari came in person and took 80 readings in three hours. Earlier, Kerala Kaumudi had reported on this matter as well.

In a WhatsApp message, Bhandari thanked everyone for the support and said it was indeed a fruitful experience being at the helm of the water authority in Kerala. Joint MD Dr.Dinesan Cheruvat who is supposed to take charge in the absence of the MD, is also going on leave. His leave period will start on June 3.
