Man hacks youth to death suspecting illicit affair with wife

KOTTAYAM: A man hacked his relative to death suspecting extramarital affair with his wife. The dead is Renjith (40) of Chengalum. Ajeesh of Vadavathoor attacked Renjith and his friend Rijo. The incident happened at 7.30 pm last night.

Renjith along with Rijo alighted at the bus stop near Vadavathoor Kurishu Junction. When they were walking forwards, the accused, who was hiding on the way, attacked the two. He tried to attack Rijo. Renjith was hacked when he tried to prevent the attack. In the meanwhile, Rijo ran to a hospital nearby.

Ajeesh attacked Renjith again after he fell down. The accused fled from the spot after the locals seeing the incident created an uproar. They later took him to the nearby hospital. After giving him first aid, Renjith was taken to Kottayam Medical College Hospital but his life could not be saved. Seriously injured Rijo is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Ajeesh for quite some time was suspicious of his wife and there were regular fights over it, said the Manarkad police. He attacked the two last night in the same mental condition. Renjith is the husband of Ajeesh's wife's uncle's daughter. The initial conclusion of the police is that it is a murder following suspicions of infidelity. A team headed by Kanjirapally DySP is conducting the search for Ajeesh.
